Job Description:
-13 week assignment -Start date ASAP -1st shift 8-5 -Must have Chemo certification and recent Oncology / Chemo experience Job Duties -All chemo comes pre-mixed so the nurse is responsible for accessing ports, hanging chemo, changing the bags and hydration -Fax orders to the pharmacy -Verify chemo with the orders in the chart -Chemo is given Tuesday through Thursday -Charting in the charts the chemo administered, units, waste, start and stop times -Keeping up with supplies so supplies are ordered in a timely fashion -lab draws and injections Responsibilities include:
o Performs nursing procedures and prescribed medical treatments.
o Observes and assesses chemotherapy patients' conditions.
o Interviews and observes patients to as certain medical history and current condition; reviews patients' records; takes vital signs, assesses current condition and pain level.
o Reviews and carries out physician's orders.
o Reports progress and unusual occurrences.
o Records and reports all information within scope of authority.
o Performs assessment of patients; evaluates symptoms, and determines essential o Care required.
o Prepares patients for physician's examination, and assists in examination and treatment of patient.
o Educates patients and families about cancer diagnosis, prognosis and treatment options.
o Assists in assessment of pain management.
o Other duties as assigned Qualifications include:
o Must be able to communicate effectively.
o Current RN license.
o Prefer at least 1 year of experience in oncology o Current BLS card.
o Current physical exam per state or contract requirements.
o Successful completion of Maxim screening tests with a score of 80% or greater.
o Must pass criminal background screening.
o Current TB test or chest x-ray.
o PALS/ACLS if per contract requirements.
